<![CDATA[Collar, Stand + Tie - Blog]]>Mon, 20 May 2013 09:40:21 -0800Weebly<![CDATA[The Next Step for Collar, Stand + Tie]]>Mon, 05 Mar 2012 17:33:02 GMThttp://www.collarstandtie.com/1/post/2012/03/the-next-step-for-collar-stand-tie.htmlAs many of you may know, getting laid off was the "kick in the pants" I needed to start Collar, Stand + Tie. Since CS+T's debut at the MarketNYC in the fall of 2010, I have cherished each opportunity that has come before me due to my little line of accessories. I have met so many wonderfully creative photographers, artists, vendors, models and customers. I have learned where to go for fabric, labels, buttons, and thread. I have come to understand the importance of a good business card, a clear website and friends and family who will accept payment for their talents in trade.

What you may not know is that I have never lost sight of the dream of designing my own womenswear line. I started designing accessories because accessories were what I could afford to produce - and after the cost of fabric, buttons, thread, printer paper for tags, string, pins, building this website, renting a market table, suitcase for hauling my wares, cabs to and fro with that big suitcase, etc., I wondered how in the world I was ever going to get ahead. As a perfectionist, I knew that the womenswear collection I dreamed of would only happen if the time and the resources were right. In walks the Fashion Star opportunity.

I am so grateful to have the chance to design to my heart's content on NBC's Fashion Star, however, I will always pay homage to that original unisex tie I created, because for me, it is the source of inspiration for all that I design - the perfect masculine + feminine combination.

Please join me as CS+T takes the next step, starting March 13th at 9:30 EST on NBC. It's your journey, too, as I suspect if you are reading this, you helped me get here one way or another. Thank you. And thank you for your continued support.

For the latest updates, please follow my Fashion Star page on Facebook. Or, follow CS+T's journey on TwitterAND - check back very soon - at long last, CS+T's unisex ties will be available ONLINE.

<![CDATA[Label Me Thankful]]>Mon, 29 Nov 2010 21:06:45 GMThttp://www.collarstandtie.com/1/post/2010/11/label-me-thankful.html

So I recently ran out of labels (and ties for that matter). My first reaction - "Ohforgodsakes, just in time for the holiday season." But I quickly realized this is the best kind of problem to have, and that I have so much to be thankful for this holiday season. I am so grateful for the family, friends and loyal fans that have helped me along this year. I am grateful for the opportunity to sell at We The People and the various markets that have welcomed me in - and I am grateful for Label Kings - may my label order be ready early! This Sunday, December 5th, I will be selling at the King's County General Store at Southpaw in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Anxious to meet a new crowd and see the venue... The event is sponsored by Bust Magazine. My fingers are crossed that I will have labeled ties and scarves ready for purchase!

<![CDATA[Half the recipe, but Twice the fun!]]>Mon, 08 Nov 2010 17:41:39 GMThttp://www.collarstandtie.com/1/post/2010/11/half-the-recipe-but-twice-the-fun.htmlmy good friend (and eternal supporter), Tracy, ordered a hoodie scarf for her partner's birthday a little over a month ago. Knowing I had a bit of time before the special day, I decided that I had to include scarves for the entire family - Tracy, Lisa and their adorable twin boys, Nate and Sam. Little did I realize that I would receive the most incredible photos once the package arrived. Not to take away from Lisa's special day, but can you "Stand" these boys in hoodie scarves? I didn't think so. Thank you, T + L. Oh, and N + S, of course.
